Trip to Map ("we," "us," or "our") is a free, AI-powered travel mapping tool available at triptomap.xyz. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Email address — only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter. We use it solely to send feature updates.
  • Shared list content — when you create and share a trip list, the places, title, and description you provide are stored in Google Cloud Firestore so that others can view them via a shareable link.
  • User input — text, images, and URLs you submit are processed by our backend and Google Gemini AI to extract locations. This content is not stored permanently.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics data — we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymized usage data such as page views, feature usage, and general device/browser information. GA4 uses first-party cookies for this purpose.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the Trip to Map service
  • To process your inputs and generate interactive maps via Google Gemini AI and Google Maps APIs
  • To store and serve shared trip lists via Firestore
  • To send newsletter updates (only if you subscribed)
  • To understand how the service is used via anonymized analytics

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data according to their own privacy policies:

  • Google Cloud Firestore — for storing shared trip lists.

5. Cookies

We do not use cookies for our own purposes. The only cookies set are by Google Analytics 4 for anonymized usage measurement. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. User Accounts

Trip to Map does not require or offer user accounts. You can use all features without registering or signing in.

7. Data Retention

  • Shared trip lists are stored in Firestore indefinitely or until deleted.
  • Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Input data (text, images, URLs) is processed in memory and not permanently stored.
  • Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics default retention settings.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your data (shared lists or newsletter subscription) at any time by contacting us. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under the GDPR including the right to access, rectification, and portability of your personal data.

9. Children's Privacy

Trip to Map is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
